PopSQL Moves to Limited Support — Here’s What You Need to Know

PopSQL has been the go‑to SQL editor for thousands of teams since 2016. After TigerData’s acquisition of PopSQL, we have been integrating some of the best parts of PopSQL into the core Tiger Cloud experience to build the best cloud console experience for Postgres. To keep that momentum, we’re ending active development on PopSQL today and moving the product into limited support through 1 September 2026. After that date, PopSQL will be retired.

Why This Decision

Since acquiring PopSQL in April 2024, we’ve been integrating its most‑loved features directly into Tiger Cloud. Moving PopSQL to limited support lets us finish that work and continue improving the Tiger Cloud experience, while still giving current PopSQL users plenty of runway to transition. If you’d like to see these features inside Tiger Cloud today, you can start a free trial.

What to Expect

  • No new features; only urgent fixes and security patches.
  • Your organization, queries, and database connections continue to work as they do today until September 1st, 2026.
  • If you’re on an annual subscription, we’ll switch you to monthly billing automatically at renewal—no action needed.
  • PopSQL will no longer be available after September 1st, 2026.

Exporting Your Data

Frequently Asked Questions

Exporting data

Q: How do I export my data from PopSQL?

A: You can export your work using these methods:

Q: Can I export all my queries at once?

A: The best way to do this is via GitHub Sync, which will push your queries to your GitHub repository. We have made this feature free for all organizations as of September 2nd, 2025.

Q: What happens to my data after September 1st, 2026?

A: All data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered after the shutdown date. Please ensure you export everything you need before then.

Q: Can you help me migrate to another platform?

A: We will not be providing migration assistance or support for transitioning to other platforms. You'll need to handle the migration process independently.

Connections

Q: What about API access and integrations?

A: All API access and integrations will be terminated on September 1st, 2026. Please update any automated processes that rely on PopSQL before this date.

Q: Will my database connections continue to work?

A: Yes, your database connections will continue to work until the shutdown date. However, we recommend testing alternative platforms well before September 1st, 2026.

Billing

Q: Will my subscription be renewed?

A: If you’re on an annual subscription, we’ll switch you to monthly billing automatically at renewal—no action needed on your part.

Q: I'm an Enterprise customer with a long-term contract. What are my options?

A: You will continue to have access to your PopSQL organization and support through the duration of your contract. At renewal, your contract will automatically be switched to month-to-month. Your access to PopSQL will be terminated on Sep 1st, 2026.

Contact support@popsql.com if you have any questions.

Alternative solutions

Q: What do you recommend as an alternative to PopSQL?

A: While we cannot provide specific recommendations, there are several SQL editing platforms available. We encourage you to evaluate options that best fit your team's workflow and requirements.

Q: Can I use PopSQL's features in Tiger Cloud?

A: Tiger Cloud has its own query interface; however, the Tiger Cloud platform only supports Postgres. If you require features such as dashboarding or charts, this query interface may not be suitable for you.

Support questions

Q: Will customer support continue during the wind-down period?

A: Yes, however our support team (support@popsql.com) will primarily focus on data export guidance through the shutdown date.

Q: Will PopSQL continue to receive updates and bug fixes?

A: PopSQL will only receive critical security fixes and emergency patches. No new features or non-critical updates will be developed.

Q: Will you send reminder emails as the shutdown date approaches?

A: Yes, we'll send periodic reminder emails at 90 days, 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before the shutdown date to help ensure you don't lose access to your data.
